Childbirth MRI of the Day:Heads up — video is vaguely graphic.

In 2010, scientists captured the first MRI of a woman giving birth, but only still images were available. Now researchers have released the video version:

The video captures the active second stage of labor as the mother expels the fetus. The technique, called cinematic MRI, takes repeated images of the same slice of the body before joining them up to create an ultra-detailed video.

The video MRI is intended to help doctors manage complications during labor and delivery.
